Analysis options

The budget analyse tool offer a variety of filter you can use to analyze your hotels budget performance, everything can be customized accordingly to your needs. Check below the analysis options available.

  • Time frame: period of time you want to assess.

  • KPIs: what will be analyzed.

    • Revenue, occupancy, rooms sold, rooms available, ADR or RevPar.

  • Series: time frames comparison options.

  • Group by: will split the available data into the selected group, adding up to the total of your selected KPI.

    • Hotels, segment, channels, country or room type.

  • Difference: calculate the difference to the selected series.

Time frame

You can choose the period of time you want to assess. For default, the start date will be the first of the last month and the end will be the last day of the current month in one year. You can define the time frame by selecting:

  • Start date (From)

  • End date (To)

  • Time unit: day, week or month.

Note

Please, keep in mind that a selection of a weekly or daily time unit might take longer to load.

KPIs

You can select the KPIs that will be displayed (on the top of the table) in the analysis by selecting them on the KPI dropdown, you can select up to 5 at once. The available KPIs are:

  • Revenue

  • Occupancy

  • Rooms sold

  • Rooms available

  • ADR (Average Daily Rate): Average rate of all sold rooms.

    • How to calculate it: (Total room revenue) / (Number of all sold rooms)

  • RevPAR (Revenue per available room): This KPI combines occupancy and ADR to see how the hotel was performing.

    • How to calculate it: (total room revenue) / (total number of rooms) or
      (ADR) x (occupancy in %)

Series

The series are used to extend the possibilities, by comparing different time frames. For a deeper analysis, you can add the following options to your analysis:

  • Final 2Y: final value two years ago.

  • Final 3Y: final value three years ago.

  • YTD 2Y: qualifying date comparison for the booking situation two years ago

  • YTD 3Y: qualifying date comparison for the booking situation three years ago

  • New 1d: shows pick up of the last day

  • New 3d: shows pick up of the last three days.

  • New 7d: shows pick up of the last seven days.

  • Goals: goals set on “Settings → Budget”.

Note

If you select more than 3 KPIs you won't be able to add more than 2 series.

Group

The groups will split the available data into the selected group, adding up to the total of your selected KPIs. You can choose between the following options:

  • Hotels: only for the users operating more than one hotel in RateBoard.

  • Segments: e.g. group, business, leisure

  • Channels: e.g. website, telephone, Booking.com

  • Country: country of origin of your guests

  • Room Type: the room types are the ones set in your inventory.

Tip

Expert’s tip: If you are operating more than one hotel in RateBoard, you can set up hotels “Bundles” to make your analysis easier.

Info

The analysis based on your market segments will give you valuable information about your guest and trends.

Differences

Calculate the difference to the selected series, you can turn it on (show) or off (hide). It will be displayed after the respective series.

Custom presets

You can create custom presets that will save the analyses options and make it easier to get to the visualization that makes more sense to your hotel.

Create new presets

  1. Select the filter options you want to apply.

  2. Once you are done, click on NEW PRESET to create a new one.

  3. Add a unique name to your preset.

  4. Click "SAVE".

Note

Every preset needs to have a unique name, otherwise the preset will not be saved.

Access or delete presets

Once you created your presets, you can switch between them by clicking on preset option or delete a preset by clicking on the respective waste paper bin.
