How the segmentation works
The segmentation allows you to categorize the reservations based on their segments. If activated (on), the defined categorization will influence the segmentation affects the rate recommendations. Segments categorized as "Complimentary" (COMP) or "Group" are not counted as occupied rooms by the algorithm.
Info |
---|
The segments are maintained in the hotel software / PMS and transferred to RateBoard. |
Concrete case studies:
Your hotel offers three free nights for family members as an employee bonus, which are maintained in the hotel software with the segment "FAM". In the segmentation, you assign this segment to the category "Complimentary" (COMP), in order that these reservations are not counted in the demand.
Your hotel works a lot with group bookings or incentives, which are maintained in the hotel software with the segment "BUSINESS GROUP". In the segmentation you assign this segment to the category "Group", in order that these reservations are not counted in the demand.
If such a segment counts for 20% of your current total occupancy of 70% on a given day, RateBoard will continue to calculate the price recommendation with 50% of the current occupancy as part of the algorithm.
Info |
---|
The segmentation only affects the calculation of the algorithm. |
Activate the segmentation
By default, the segmentation is deactivated. Once segmentation is offenabled, once it is turned on, you must map the segments into complimentary and group, so the rate recommendation algorithm can work properly according to the categorizationmandatory to select for all segments whether they are "Complimentary" (COMP) or "Group" category, respectively neither of them.
Please only categorize segments as "Free nights" or "Group" if these bookings should really be excluded from the demand.
Map the PMS segments
You can categorize the segments into complimentary and group, by turning the switch Please select yes/no for each segment. the categories "Complimentary" and "Group" for each of the listed segments. RateBoard will inform you via a system warning if there are (new) segments without assignment.
If the segment was already mapped, you will see the message “Mapped”, if not, it will show “Not mapped yet”.
Note that you can only select one option per PMS segment, either complimentary or group.
Complimentary: bookings with no or low revenue, e.g. family member booking, these rooms reservations will not be included in the demand.
Group: group bookings, e.g. travel agency, … For the moment, you can define the segment to use it for analysis and reports, but it does not affect rate recommendations, incentives, business groups…, These reservations will not be included in the demand.
System alert
To help you to correctly set up RateBoard and keep your hotel’s information updated, we use system alerts to let you know if there are any open tasks.
You can find this reminder on the header of the page, clicking on the bell symbol. For each reminder, you can take action right away or be reminded later.
Note |
---|
For now, the system alert only alerts you for unmapped segments |
