Overview

How the segmentation works

The segmentation allows you to categorize the reservations based on their segments. If activated (on), the defined categorization will influence the rate recommendations.

The segments are maintained in the hotel software / PMS and transferred to RateBoard.

Activate the segmentation

By default, the segmentation is off, once it is turned on, you must map the segments into complimentary and group, so the rate recommendation algorithm can work properly according to the categorization.

Map the PMS segments

You can categorize the segments into complimentary and group, by turning the switch yes/no for each segment. If the segment was already mapped, you will see the message “Mapped”, if not, it will show “Not mapped yet”.

  • Complimentary: bookings with no revenue, e.g. family member booking, these rooms will not be included in the demand.

  • Group: group bookings, e.g. travel agency, … For the moment, you can define the segment to use it for analysis and reports, but it does not affect rate recommendations.
